Most Commonly Asked Questions About My Sessions
Q~ How can I book a session?
A~ Booking a session is fairly simple. All you have to do is call (810)-623-7087 or EMAIL ME and we can begin right away on figuring out what you are envisioning for your session and a date for your session. Typically, we will decide upon a location once we get closer to the date of the actual session. (TOP TIP: It is NEVER too early to schedule a session; the earlier the better. During my busy season "summer-fall" I can book up months in advance).
Q~ When do you schedule your photo sessions?
A~ My outdoor sessions are most times scheduled in the evenings (or as photographers call it "the golden hour"). This is about 60 minutes before the sun sets. During this time of day, the sun is at its most perfect and with shimmering rays cascades across the sky making for beautiful skin tones and warm beautiful pictures. The other time of the day that I also sometimes photograph (as it has a similar affect to "the golden hour") in the first hour after the sun rises. I never schedule an outdoor session during the middle of the day. During the middle of the day, the sun is extremely bright and over exposes skin and causes deep harsh shadows that are extremely unflattering. Depending on the time of year, I will decide what the time should be based on the setting and rising of the sun.
Q~ What type of sessions do you offer?
A~ I specialize in newborn portrait art, but also photograph maternity, children, family, and birth sessions. I typically do not photograph weddings or other special events or take part in commercial photography. I am always open to requests, but if after we meet I feel I am not able to meet your photographic needs, I would be happy to refer you to another fabulous and skilled photographer that specializes in what you are looking for.
Q~ Where do you photograph your sessions?
A~For my newborn sessions, I have a full operating studio with an endless array of props and backdrops that I work with to capture truly amazing newborn photo's. For the on-location sessions, I have a wide variety of outdoor locations that will meet the needs of many different personal styles. I am constantly scouting for new, fun, and unique spots to have photo sessions, as well as constantly updating props used for my newborn sessions. I am also open to suggestions from you. Have a place you have always wanted to have you pictures taken? I am happy to work with you to see what we can come up with.
Q~ What should I wear to my session?
A~ My best piece of advice for wardrobe planning it to pick a color palate the works well together and then build your outfits from there. You can also Google "Wardrobe Wednesday's" or "What To Wear Wednesday's" and that will lead you to a lot of helpful information when planning your session attire. And if all else fails, call me. I would be happy to help you further.
Q~ Do you offer digital files?
A~ Yes! I have several options for purchasing digital files from your portrait session.
Q~ What Can I Expect to Invest?
A~ Every session has a $200 non-refundable reservation that is due at the time of booking a session to secure your spot. This fee is then deducted from whatever you order at your ordering session. My session fees start at $195 and go up to $295 depending on the type of session and do not come with any products, packages, or digital files. From there clients get to create their own package that meets their individual needs by choosing items off my a la cart menu or my digital files menu. I offer a wide array of unique products such as boutique prints, fine art linen albums, gallery wrapped canvases, and more. For a full list of my pricing and products, please CONTACT ME.
Q~ Do you travel?
A~ I am always open to new opportunities...so YES! Travel fees and accommodations must be paid for by the client and an additional travel rate will apply. Interested in bringing me to you? EMAIL ME and we can chat.
Q~ Do you offer mentoring?
A~ Yes and no. I do on occasion offer newborn workshops. To find out more, please CONTACT ME. However, at this time I do not offer business or editing courses. For editing or workflow mentoring I recommend Andee Tate from Crave Photography and if you are looking for a great senior photography mentor or help with the business/pricing/marketing aspect of photography, I highly recommend you contact Brittney Kluse of Brittney Kluse Photography. Not only is she super smart and talented, but she is one of the kindest people I have ever had the good fortune of knowing.
